I'm back...

Well I got my sewing machine back out and thought I would share a couple of things that I made today...
Red/White Child-Size
I love this red print. It makes me think of a bandana. I also REALLY love the double-ruffle. I will definitely be doing again.
Orange heart Child-Size
I have has this orange fabric for a while and just didn't know what to do with it. I think this apron turned out SO CUTE. I especially like the heart-shaped pocket!
Retro orange Toddler-Size
I absolutely LOVE this orange color. It gives the apron a Retro-feel.

a few more

I am almost ready to re-open my shop. I love making these sweet aprons. I hope other people will enjoy them as much as I do.

I am working up make some that are a little more "Boy-ish." I am
hesitant on this because I am not sure they would sell very well.

I'm also working on making matching "potholders" to go with the aprons.

More aprons

Well I have been busy this week making a pattern for these cute little aprons. I am pretty happy with how they turned out. The first 3 are Toddler-Size (24 months-5T) and the last one is Child-Size (size 4-8).
All of the aprons have 3 snaps on the neck-strap making it adjustable.
This is the first one that I made. I love the sweet little pink flowers. I made the straps long enough that it can be tied in the front. This makes it easier for kids to take off and I think it's really cute.
This one is my daughters favorite. She cried when it was time to take it off.

I took pictures of this one tied in the front...

Or in the back. It's cute either way.

This one is a little more simple. I added some purple ric-rac around the bottom to make it more fun.
This is what it looks like from the back. The straps are long enough that it could also be tied in front.
This is the first one I have made in the Child-size.
I think it's a little bigger than I had intended. I will probably be making changes to this pattern before I post anything to my shop.
I will be making several more of these before I post them to my shop.

Please let me know what you think!

Tuesday Tutorial

Turn an old sweater into a dress

This morning I saw this old sweater hanging in my closet and thought, "that would be a cute little dress"

So I laid the sweater out on the floor and placed one of Brianna's dresses on top.

I traced around the dress with a pencil. A fabric marker probably would have worked better, but I don't have one.
Next I cut the pieces out making sure to keep the ribbing around the hood in tact.
I then cut the sleeves the same way, by placing the other dress on top and cutting to the length I wanted. I cut them a little longer than the other dress because I want to be able to roll them up.
Then I put the right sides together and sewed the side seams. I used a 1/4" seam allowance because it's knit and I knew it would roll/fray.
I actually had to take this seam out because it was crooked. Note: ALWAYS USE PINS!!!! Especially when working with knit fabrics!
Next I sewed the sleeves in.

And this is the completed sleeve.
This is what I have so-far.  Next I pinned the hood in where I wanted it to go and trimmed the ribbing to fit the new smaller neck/hood.
Again, I used LOTS of pins to hold it together and sewed the hood in place.
And here is the finished dress. This was so quick and easy. I can't wait for Brianna to try it on!

Mini-me aprons

So this is my latest idea. I have been working on making child-size aprons to sell in my shop. I just thought I would share a little of what I have made so-far. Let me know what you think!
This one might be my favorite. It is reversible! I love the brown/teal material!

I ran out of fabric before I could make a tie for this one, so it's not quite done yet.

This one is fun. I especially like the cherries on the front!
